A cataract is a clouding of the eye's natural lens located behind the iris and pupil. The lens is made of water and protein and helps focus light onto the retina, allowing you to see clearly. As you age, the proteins in the lens can break down, causing it to become cloudy or opaque. This cloudiness interferes with light's ability to pass through the eye, leading to blurry vision. Cataracts develop slowly over time, and symptoms may not be noticeable for years. However, as the condition worsens, you may experience various symptoms, including blurred or cloudy vision, halos around lights, or difficulty seeing at night.
Symptoms vary from person to person. However, common symptoms include cloudy or blurry vision, trouble seeing at night, light and glare sensitivity, seeing halos around lights, fading or yellowing of colors or double vision. Dr. Jing Dong is a board-certified ophthalmologist and currently serves as the owner and president of the Georgia Center for Sight and the American Eye Surgery Center in Athens, GA. He founded the Georgia Center for Sight in 2001 and has deep expertise in handling a wide variety of eye care needs. He specializes in no-needle, no-stitch cataract surgery in addition to providing services for glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, oculoplastic and strabismus surgery.

Dr. Tuckfield is a board-eligible ophthalmologist who is passionate about improving the sight of those he serves. He has participated in research throughout his career and has several publications in the study of ophthalmology.

Using controlled UV light, your eye doctor can fine-tune your vision, which allows you to fully customize and test-drive your new vision.The Light Delivery Device will apply controlled ultraviolet (UV) light to your lens, which causes changes in the lens's material. Through this, your vision will be fine-tuned, and you will get to test drive your vision.With this technology, you are able to have greater control of your vision and potentially reduce your dependence on glasses after cataract surgery.
